Glasgow-set bingo comedy Members Only by River City’s Marc Pye & Gayle Telfer Stevens to premier at A Play, A Pie and A Pint

A Play, A Pie and A Pint have announced the cast of Members Only, a laugh-out-loud Glasgow-set comedy about a game of bingo that threatens to ruin everything, premiering at Òran Mór this May.

Cash-strapped best pals Linda and Angie live for the weekend buzz of bingo night. Their daughters, Stacey and Amy, however, think it’s just an old biddies’ game until they hear about the ‘big one’ with £40k up for grabs. When the two lassies scheme to sneak into the members only club for a chance to win, relationships and loyalty are put to the test…all over a game of bingo!

Julie Duncanson (Half Man) and Sandra McNeeley (River City) will play bingo-obsessed pals Angie and Linda, whilst Eimi Quinn (The Funeral Club) and Taya Sian (Mammy Goose) have been cast as their scheming daughters.

Members Only is written by Marc Pye and Gayle Telfer Stevens, who met and worked together on BBC River City. Pye is a prolific writer who has written for many serials, including Eastenders and Holby City, as well as for the BAFTA and International Emmy award-winning series The Street by Jimmy McGovern. Telfer Stevens is an Oliver award-winning actress who played Caitlin McClean in River City, and this marks her professional playwriting debut.

Still Game star Maureen Carr will direct this new comedy, after starring in Someone’s Knocking at the Door alongside Jonathan Watson, which opened the current A Play, A Pie and A Pint Spring season, supported by Creative Scotland.

Members Only premieres from Mon 18 to Sat 23 May at Glasgow’s Òran Mór, and will tour to Stranraer, Dumfries and Moffat as part of this year’s Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival.
