An extraordinary physical comedy theatre experience created especially for young audiences with complex additional support needs (ASN) and their families will tour venues across Scotland this July and October.
Presented by Tenterhooks in association with Beacon Arts Centre, Gaggle is a playful, non-verbal production that blends physical comedy, live music, circus and sensory theatre into a joyful and deeply inclusive experience. Gaggle invites audiences to spend three days and three nights with three lighthouse keepers who work, watch and wait through every kind of weather.
Created specifically for teenagers with complex ASN, while also suitable for children aged five and over with ASN, Gaggle has been carefully designed to welcome every audience member. The highly sensory production balances moments of laughter and energetic play with stillness and silence, allowing audiences time and space to engage, process and respond in their own way. Performers interact gently with audiences throughout, embracing every response and creating a shared theatrical experience where everyone belongs.
Gaggle was developed in collaboration with young people at Riverbrae School, Linwood, with early-stage R&D on the Physical Comedy Lab at the Tron Theatre, Glasgow, funded by Creative Scotland. The production premiered at Beacon Arts Centre in 2025 to outstanding audience response.
Gaggle combines slapstick comedy, circus pole acrobatics, live singing, tactile sensory props and an original musical score to create a non-verbal, highly sensory, stimulating experience.
Gaggle tours Scotland throughout July, with further tour dates to be announced later this year.
Gaggle is presented by Tenterhooks in association with Beacon Arts Centre and is supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.
