REVIEW: Divina de Campo: I Do Think – The Stand, Glasgow

Yorkshire’s most glorious drag diva, Divina de Campo brings her one-woman autobiographical show to Glasgow.

I Do Think is “an electrifying one-woman show that explores life’s highs, lows, and everything in between. From orbiting the stars to becoming one”.

Divina details her roller coaster journey through song and a screen (a screen that is delightfully and shambolically operated by the venue staff despite a two hour rehearsal). It just adds to De Campo’s down to earth charm. The vocals are, of course impeccable throughout. The comedy (especially about her Drag Race journey and her fellow drag circuit divas) is utterly on point. Her trademark Yorkshire honesty fully to the fore.

I Do Think reflects on one truth: people will think what they will about you, but the only thing within your control is to be yourself. De Campo can stand head high and say she has achieved that in this show, and the audience absolutely adore her for it. This is drag at its very best, modern but old-fashioned in the best way as it is written and delivered with wit, wisdom and absolute aplomb by a performer with true talent.
