Award-winning Belgian play LUNE by Pamela Ghislain to be performed at A Play, A Pie and A Pint
A Play, A Pie and A Pint have announced the cast of Lune, the award-winning Belgian play that will be performed in English for the first time as part of their current Autumn season, supported by the Institut français du Royaume-Uni.
From Belgian writer, performer and director Pamela Ghislain, this politically charged drama sees a young woman, Lune Bogaert, take a stand against the state’s lack of action against gender inequality.
As Lune’s protest ripples through the media and the public, it also reverberates through the lives of two un-expecting members of the legal machinery in ways they never could have foreseen.
Kim Allan, who last performed at A Play, A Pie and A Pint in the David MacLennan Award-winning Jellyfish, will star as Lune, joined in the cast by Nalini Chetty and Andrew Rothney.
The play, first staged in 2023, won the prestigious Francophone Playwriting Award from the Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques (SACD), that honours outstanding contemporary, French-language theatrical work.
This upcoming production at Glasgow’s Oran Mor from 19-24 October will mark Lune’s Scottish/UK premiere and has been translated into English by Katherine Mendelsohn. It will be directed by the award-winning Wils Wilson, whose recent work includes Macbeth for the Royal Shakespeare Company and Two Sisters at The Lyceum.
