NEWS: First Acts Announced for MugStock Festival

MugStock festival have announced the first of over 150 acts to perform at the annual festival of Music & Merriment in Mugdock Country Park.

In it’s fourth year, MugStock is the closest festival of music and camping to Glasgow and takes place from Friday 27th – Monday 30th July 2018.

The acts so far announced reinforce MugStock’s commitment to musical diversity and emerging talent.
The first acts to be announced are:

  • Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5
    • Founders of the Yellow Movement, Glasgow’s shiny disco ball hat wearing, unicorn crowd surfing, genre hopping entertainers have been captivating audiences across the UK and recently as far afield as Korea with their unforgettable stage show.Winners of the SAMA’s (Scottish Alternative Music Awards) Best Live Act they are guaranteed to bring a party like no other to our main arena on Friday night at MugStock.

  • Tide Lines
    • Highly Eclectic Folk Rock formed by 2 ex-Skipinnish. Tide Lines emerged just over a year ago. They released their Far Side of the World single in 2016 and its lyrical theme the connection between youth and location formed the basis for their first full length album: Dreams We Never Lost which featured original Waterboy and current Saw Doctor Anthony Thistlewaite was released in June 2017.

  • Girobabies
    • Girobabies give you baffling grunge soul music with a dollop of psychedelic dystopian elbow-grease and a pinch of gutter-rock Utopian lyricism. The Glasgow based band’s debut album ‘Who Took Utopia?’ was released to critical acclaim. Sorely missed from the festival scene in 2017 Girobabies are set to make a triumphant return

  • Emily Middlemas
    • Emily is from Glasgow has been performing since the age of 10 and at 13 she reached the Scottish and Northern England open mic final. She won Teenstar in 2014 and the same year she made it to the judge’s house in the X-Factor. At 18 she made it to the final of X-Factor and finished 4th place, soon after that she was part of a sell out UK arena X-Factor tour.

      Since the X-Factor Emily’s career has been going fantastic. In 2017 she performed the opening song for the Scottish Grand National at Ayr Race Course to 17000 people which went out live on ITV and performed at many high profile corporate events such as Miss Scotland Final, Business for Scotland awards, Cash For Kids, William Hill Awards, Young Scot Awards, QTS Ladies Night at Ayr Race Course and many, many more!

      Last November Emily completed her debut UK tour with most dates sold out and also released her debut single “Lost and Found” which received an amazing response and reached number 48 in the singles charts.

      With two tours currently being booked for this year, festival slots confirmed, debut album being released and appearing at many more high profile events, 2018 is going to be another great year for Emily.

  • Katee Kross
    • Katee Kross is an 19 year old singer/songwriter from Bishopbriggs. Katee is already making a name for herself in the music scene and has already supported people like Dougie MacLean Barbara Dickson Karine Polwart James Grant John Doyle Findlay Napier and Tony McManus.
      In October 2016 she was invited by American Country/Blues Legend Seasick Steve to sing his song Purple Shadow Live on stage at Wembley Arena in front of 12,500 people.

    • Dark pop from Edinburgh with 2 critically acclaimed albums and 4 EPs under their belt

    • Half Formed Things cast cinematic grandiosity against Edinburgh’s gothic cityscape with their own unique variety of rich, densely-layered pop.  2017 saw the band featured on BBC Radio Scotland, releasing a well-received new single and playing shows across the country, including two sell-out hometown performances.  With a new four-piece line-up, a set of new material and a debut album in production, 2018 is set to be an even bigger year for Half Formed Things.

  • Awkward Family Portraits
    • Glasgow based Folk and Americana band. Drawing influence from music old and new, they aim to get your hips shaking and toes tapping with their own material and arrangements.
