The international smash hit musical comedy Hairspray the Musical is returning with a new UK Tour from August 2017.

TOURING TO SCOTLAND – Cilla The Musical

A new musical based on the life of Cilla Black will embark on a tour of the UK, beginning in September.

Cilla – The Musical is a stage adaptation of Jeff Pope’s ITV series which starred Sheridan Smith in the title role. Open auditions for the role of Cilla are being held nationwide soon.

The musical, which is produced by Bill Kenwright, Laurie Mansfield and Cilla’s son Robert Wills, will follow the life of Black from her teenage years in Liverpool through her rise to fame. The score will feature a host of ’60s music including Cilla’s much-loved hits “Anyone Who Had a Heart”, “Alfie” and “Something Tells Me”.

Born Priscilla Maria Veronica White, Black is most well known now for her TV work including Blind Date and Surprise Surprise. Her singles “Anyone Who Had a Heart” and “You’re My World” both reached number one in the UK in 1964.

The smash hit Broadway and West End Musical based on the best loved movie follows beautiful and popular sorority sister Elle Woods who loves to be pampered and is passionate about pink. When she is dumped by her boyfriend Warner Huntingdon III for a more serious girlfriend she puts down the credit cards and picks up the books. Packing up her trusty pooch, Bruiser, she bags herself a place at the prestigious Harvard Law School to try and win him back. With the support of her new friends she learns that you can be both smart and fashionable.

Rita Simons who is best known for playing Roxy Mitchell in BBC’s Eastenders will play Paulette.

Tom Parker, from boy band The Wanted, is to star in his first ever theatrical role as ‘bad boy’ Danny in Grease.

Also starring Over The Rainbow winner Danielle Hope as Sandy, EastEnders’ and Strictly Come Dancing’s Louisa Lytton as Rizzo.

Dust off your leather jackets, pull on your bobby-socks and take a trip to a simpler time as Danny and Sandy fall in love all over again.

Written by Willy Russell, the legendary BLOOD BROTHERS tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences.

Lyn Paul returns to the iconic role she has played many times in the West End, in fact she was the show’s final Mrs Johnstone when it closed at The Phoenix Theatre in 2012. Lyn also starred in the tour of Cabaret with Will Young in 2013 and rose to fame as a member of the pop group New Seekers whose numerous number one hits include ‘I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing’ which sold over 20 million copies.

Musical theatre fans will be delighted to know that the smash-hit West End and Broadway musical about the life of song writing genius Carole King will be coming to Scotland.

King sold her first hit, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, when she was just seventeen years old and by the time she was twenty was writing number ones for some the biggest acts in rock ‘n’ roll, including the Drifters, The Shirelles, Aretha Franklin and The Monkees. it features classic numbers including So Far Away, Oh! Carol, It Might as Well Rain Until September, Some Kind of Wonderful, Up on the Roof, The Locomotion, You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling, One Fine Day, It’s Too Late, You’ve Got a Friend (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman and Beautiful.

Beautiful is the story of King’s journey from schoolgirl to superstar; from her relationship with husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin, their close friendship and playful rivalry with fellow song-writing duo Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, to her remarkable rise to stardom.

She became one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history, and wrote the soundtrack to a generation.
