LOST MAP HALLOWE’EN ALL DAYER | MADE IN EASTERHOUSE WITH ASHANTI HARRIS | CINDERELLA | FULL HOUSE FRIDAYS…AND MORE!

Platform are thrilled to welcome audiences to their new season, as they kick off their autumn/winter 2023 season.

Click here for a peek at the new What’s On Platform programme – full of new theatre, festivals days and art exhibitions.

The Pay-What-You-Like Taking Part programme is in full swing with drums, guitar & fiddle lessons, art classes, drama groups, choir, a dance workshop for children with ASN with Paragon, knitting group and family sessions.

They open their season with another installation of Made In Easterhouse on Sat 9 Sep – a festival style event of live performances, music and workshops surrounding a new immersive installation from artist Ashanti Harris – A Carnival of Overlapping Histories (Sep 9 – Dec 23 2023). The exhibition has been made with residents of north-east Glasgow with plaster casting of faces, celebrating the cultures and family histories of the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia – and exploring how these have entangled with Scotland’s own.

Fri 15 & Sat 16 September welcome Sex Education Explorers (S.E.X.) by Mamoru Iriguchi, a time-travel ride through the evolution of sexes, packed with 1980’s pop hits, humour, DIY props, costume & video for everyone who missed the sex education they deserved at school!

Penny Chivas brings Burnt Out on Fri 6 Oct. A solo dance theatre, weaving spoken work and movement centred around our changing climate and the artist’s own experience of bushfires. The performance will be followed by a Q&A session with Penny and artist Sapna Agarwal.

The afternoon Autumn Big Band Tea Dances on Tues & Wed 11 Oct, with Jon Ritchie and That Swing Sensation, will get your toes tapping as the Platform auditorium is transformed into an old-school dance hall. There will be dancers in attendance and refreshments served.

On Tue 17 Oct, they are hosting a screening of One Last Spin, from the Machine Zone Community Interest Company, a hard-hitting film about the devastating harms of gambling followed by audience discussion with a panel of guest speakers and live music performance.

The new Full House Fridays events launch on Fri 27 Oct and take place every Friday afternoon in the run-up to Christmas.  Enjoy a game bingo, bowl of soup, special guests, surprises and plenty of prizes! As it’s a Full House event, we’ll also have a bit of music, performance or visual art to end the week with some fun.

Lost Map Records and Prah Recordings will co-host a Hallowe’en All Dayer on Sat 28 Oct as they respectively celebrate 10 years with an all-day party of wild, genre-breaking, subversive live music & DJs. Fancy-dress encouraged. Families can join us before the event for a free family-friendly Halloween-inspired art workshop.

KOR! Records will be working with a group of young musicians to create a live music performance at the KOR! Music Spectacle. An inclusive evening of sound and visuals in a relaxed atmosphere – Thu 9 Nov.

Written by Lewis Hetherington and from the creative team behind last year’s hit Sleeping Beauty, throughout December Platform are delighted to present Cinderella in association with Glasgow Kelvin College. A family friendly Christmas show, packed full of songs, jokes and larger than life characters!
