A brand-new jukebox musical celebrating some of the most iconic singer-songwriters of the 20th Century comes to The Gaiety Theatre in Ayr on Friday 20 July as part of a UK tour.

California Dreamers – The Story of Laurel Canyon takes audiences on a musical journey though the magical 60’s and the psychedelic 70’s; telling the true story of the small community in the foothills of Los Angeles that became home to some of the biggest selling artists of all time.

Featuring hits from legends such as The Mamas and Papas, The Byrds, The Eagles, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Linda Rondstadt, Carole King, The Monkees, and many more, it promises to be an unforgettable night of live music.

The 6-piece live band will perform all the greatest hits from these musical geniuses that changed the music of a generation, and who have collectively racked up over 40 Grammy awards, countless No. 1 Hits and millions of album sales around the world.

As well as featuring million selling hit songs the show also includes authentic archive film footage, presents real life stories of the events which rocked the world, and the relationships that inspired those who lived in the Canyon to write and produce the classic hits that defined a generation.

Sing and dance the night away to Mr. Tambourine Man, Love the One You’re With, It’s Too Late, Happy Together, I’m a Believer, Both Sides Now, Our House, Big Yellow Taxi, You’ve Got a Friend, and of course California Dreamin’ plus a whole host of other world class songs.

California Dreamers Co-Founder Tim Mansell said: It is a dream come true bringing this show to audiences.  It chronicles the rise and fall of the love and peace generation and relives all the greatest hits from all these amazing artists during the Los Angeles music scene from 1965 – 1975. We pay homage to the iconic performers who made their home in ‘Laurel Canyon’, a small neighbourhood nestling in the foothills of L.A.”
