NEWS: THEATRE BRINGS BACK 1973 TICKET PRICES TO CELEBRATE 45TH ANNIVERSARY

Eastwood Park Theatre is offering theatre tickets at 1973 prices , to celebrate 45 years of bringing big performances to the local area.

45 theatre fans will get the chance to catch an award-winning theatre company’s production this May for just £1.36 instead of the current 2018 price of £12.

The UK’s leading ‘full mask’ theatre company’s production, A Brave Face, comes to Eastwood Park Theatre on Wednesday 30 May as part of Eastwood Park Theatre’s 45th anniversary celebrations.

Vamos Theatre has collaborated with Veterans, serving personnel, military families and health professionals in the making of A Brave Face, a production that is touring UK and Europe this year and explores the psychological effects of war for those in the military and their families.

Anthony McReavy from East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure said: “Our theatre first opened its doors on 8th January 1973. A loaf of bread would have cost nine pence then, a pint of milk was six pence and a pint of beer would have set you back 20 pence.

“We decided to offer tickets for A Brave Face at the 1973 ticket price as the show explores an important topic, Post Traumatic Stress, and aims to create a better understanding of it and encourage support for those who live with mental trauma.

“A trip to the theatre has always allowed audience members to experience emotions and engage with subjects in a unique way and we hope to continue to offer that to our audiences for many more years to come.”

The show’s Artistic Director Rachael Savage met with Veterans and their families, serving personnel, and organisations and professionals who support those living with Post Traumatic Stress during her research for the production, which was initially inspired by author Matthew Green’s book Aftershock.

Consultants on the production include veterans of Afghanistan, Iraq and Northern Ireland, as well as organisations at the forefront of PTS support, such as Help for Heroes, Veterans First and the pioneering Recovery Centre, Chavasse VC House, many of whom are leading the way in instigating new approaches to healing psychological injury.

The first 45 customers to quote the code 1973 in person at Eastwood Park Theatre box office or over the phone to the box office on -0141 577 4956 – will receive their ticket for £1.36.
